ArmInfo. The Armenian parliament lifted the martial law that has been in effect in the country since the end of September 2020.
As reported on the website of the Armenian parliament, at the next sitting of the legislative body on March 24, a draft decision of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia "On the elimination of martial law" was adopted, initiated by the opposition factions.
The head of the NA faction from the ruling "My Step" Lilit Makunts noted that their faction will vote for. The bill was passed with 118 votes in favor, one against and one abstention. It should be noted that after the end of hostilities in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, opposition forces repeatedly initiated meetings of the Armenian parliament with a proposal to lift martial law in the country, but the ruling force refused to vote "for", assuring that there was no need for this yet. It should be reminded that on March 18, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that as a result of consultations with the parliamentary opposition - "Prosperous Armenia" and "Bright Armenia" - it was decided to hold early parliamentary elections on June 20. However, he did not say whether the process of constitutional changes and rejection of the "rating" electoral system would be launched. The latter remains the main intrigue of the domestic political agenda for Armenia.
