ArmInfo.In the Armenian government, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, a regular meeting of the interdepartmental commission coordinating measures to ensure the implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Armenia-EU Partnership Document was held.
During the meeting, it was reported on the status and implementation process of measures for 2020-2021 provided for by the CEPA roadmap in the spheres of transport, mining, environment and police. The members of the interdepartmental commission exchanged views on the details of the planned reforms and possible solutions for the convergence of EU directives.
To note, on March 1, 2021, the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Armenia (CEPA) entered into full force. The CEPA was signed in November 2017, and since June 1, 2018, a significant part of it has been temporarily applied. "The agreement plays an important role in the modernization of Armenia, in particular by bringing legislation closer to EU norms in many areas. This includes reforms in the field of the rule of law and respect for human rights, especially an independent, effective and accountable justice system, as well as reforms aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness of state institutions and to create conditions for sustainable and inclusive development.
From the date of entry into force of the Agreement on March 1, cooperation will be strengthened in areas that have so far not been covered by the provisional application of the Agreement. The European Union is ready and hopes for even closer cooperation with Armenia for the full and effective implementation of the Agreement in our common interests and for the benefit of our societies and citizens, "the EU said in a statement in this regard.
