ArmInfo. The rally of the opposition ''Movement to Save the Motherland'' will take place on February 20. On February 12, the candidate for Prime Minister of Armenia from the movement Vazgen Manukyan announced this to journalists.
He noted that today representatives of the opposition forces gathered to discuss the situation in the country. At the same time, it does not matter how many people will gather on February 12 - 50 people or 5 thousand. He assured that the rally on February 20 will be large-scale. He recalled that today's meeting is his personal initiative, which has nothing to do with the movement. The situation, continued Manukyan, is getting more and more complicated every day, as evidenced by the events in the Syunik region. Earlier there was an impression that the authorities were paralyzed, and for this reason the current events are happening in Syunik. However, now, the oppositionist noted, it becomes obvious that another capitulatory agreement has been concluded. "Let's add to this the ban on free coverage of the processes taking place in the region, and much becomes clear, there are processes that we do not know about," Manukyan emphasized, adding that the homeland is on the path of destruction.
Speaking about the actions of the opposition in the conditions when the authorities refused to hold early parliamentary elections, Vazgen Manukyan recalled that the idea of holding them belongs to the authorities. The opposition insisted on the possibility of holding elections only after the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan. "Our goal remains the same, a nationwide movement to force him to resign," the oppositionist stressed.
Answering the question about the possibility of supporting the second RA President Robert Kocharyan at the elections, Manukyan reminded again that there will be no early elections. "Initially, it was planned that I will be the interim head of government for a period of one year, after which I will not take part in any elections," the opposition representative noted, adding that the power of the current prime minister is ensured via two or three enforcers, and as soon as they leave, the power of the current prime minister will immediately collapse. Every day, he continued, the number of people who are aware of the seriousness of the moment is growing. "People come out of shock after these blows, sober up and begin to understand what is happening," the leader of the opposition movement stressed.
