ArmInfo. The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan chaired by Judge Anna Danibekyan at the February 9 session continued the consideration of the case of the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and others.
Based on the petition of Kocharyan's lawyer Hayk Alumyan, some issues related to the case will be considered behind closed doors. The court also allowed the second president of Armenia to conclude some property transactions that do not imply its alienation. The court found that there are no obstacles to the permission of transactions on property, if they do not imply its alienation, and allowed any transaction that does not lead to the alienation of the property under arrest.
In addition, the court postponed the decision on the petition to recognize the former policeman Babken Mkrtchyan as a victim, who is being held in as a witness. Babken Mkrtchyan was one of the policemen who were injured during the March 1, 2008 events. As a result of these events, the witness became disabled of the third group.
To recall, the Special Investigative Service of Armenia on July 26, 2018 brought charges against the second President Robert Kocharyan on the overthrow of the constitutional order in the framework of the criminal case on the dispersal of protests on March 1, 2008. Kocharyan considers the case to be fabricated and claims political persecution. Former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and former head of the presidential administration Armen Gevorgyan are also involved in the case.
