ArmInfo.Rustam Bakoyan, a deputy from the "My Step" faction, a representative of the Yezidi community of Armenia, proposed at the meeting of the parliamentary commission on human rights to start celebrating the day of national minorities in the country. The deputy proposed to celebrate this day on the last Saturday of September.
Bakoyan stressed that 11 national communities live in Armenia today. "Each of them has made and continues to make its significant contribution to the development of the country. If we begin to celebrate the day of national minorities, it will bring our peoples closer together, "the deputy noted.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Ara Khzmalyan, present at the meeting, supported Rustam Badasyan, also noting that the new holiday would further strengthen the friendly ties between the peoples. This will allow you to better know the culture of other peoples living in Armenia. The Commission unanimously approved the draft amendment to the law "On Holidays and Memorable Days".
