As Vahagn Hovakimyan, Chairman of the RA NA Counting Committee noted in his speech, 104 out of 131 MPs took part in the voting. 103 MP vote in favor of Karen Arustamyan, one against.
It should be noted that Karen Arustamyan's candidacy was proposed by the ruling "My Step" faction, which nominated its candidate for the second time. The first time, on December 10, he did not receive the required number of votes. Earlier, presenting his program, Karen Arustamyan noted that in his new position he intends to introduce the highest modern audit standards and exclude possible risks and arbitrariness, increase the level of the Chamber's work to ensure a high level of reporting. He also pointed out the importance of introducing a quality control and management system that would allow fixing shortcomings and omissions in the activity of the Audit Chamber. Karen Arustamyan graduated from the Armenian State Economic University with a degree in accounting and audit. Since 1998, he worked in the banking system, after which, since 2004, he held various positions in the state system - the tax service, since 2005 he worked in the Control Chamber, and since 2018 - in the Audit Chamber.
