ArmInfo.Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan was detained. His deputy Irina Yolyan wrote about this on her Facebook page.
The deputy mayor noticed that Arushanyan's lawyers were unable to contact him. "As a result of illegal actions of the police, the mayor of Goris was detained about 6 hours ago. The lawyers are unable to contact him. The Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan was informed about what is happening>, Yolyan emphasized.
It should be noted that on the night of November 20-21, Arushanyan urged the residents of Syunik to block roads and not allow Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who was going to visit the region, to enter the region.
The Investigative Committee reported that several proceedings have been launched against the mayor of Goris, which will then be combined into one case. However, the articles on which Arushanyan was detained are not reported. In fact, as an ArmInfo correspondent reports, a big traffic jam was formed on the highway from Goris to Yerevan in the morning. The road was blocked in the morning by local activists who oppose Pashinyan's visit to Syunik. As of 2:00 pm, the road from Goris in the section closer to the Shinuair village (the road to Tatev) was still blocked.
