ArmInfo. The Department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia for the confiscation of property of illegal origin received over 200 materials related to the illegally obtained property. This is stated in the message of the RA General Prosecutor's Office.
The source notes that the materials were received for the period from September 3, from the moment the department was established, to November 15. According to the order of the RA Prosecutor General, the structural divisions of the Prosecutor's Office divided the criminal cases, within the framework of which suspicions of the presence of property of illegal origin may arise. Based on the results of the check for the existence of grounds for initiating a criminal case, it was decided to conduct an investigation in relation to 206 types of property. Each study conducted includes a comprehensive, detailed, results-oriented analysis aimed at the earliest, most effective and most respectful application of the law on confiscation of property of illegal origin.
During this period, the Office continues to work with a heavy load, given that the unit's personnel are not fully staffed.
It should be reminded that the selection of the Office's prosecutors was carried out through an open competition, as a result of which five winners were appointed to the positions of prosecutors. Currently, candidates are being prepared for the positions of three more prosecutors who won the second open a competition held on 3 November to fill the remaining vacancies for prosecutors. Economists were also involved in the efficient execution of the work. After the formation of the responsible division, an open competition was announced, as a result of which 4 economists were recognized as winners. "Within the framework of the initiated process, all legal instruments will be consistently used to obtain data on property of illegal origin in the framework of relevant proceedings, to withdraw it from economic circulation exclusively within the framework of legal procedures, to return it to its rightful owner, and to restore violated state rights." - the message says.
In September of this year, ArmInfo reported that the RA General Prosecutor's Office is in the process of replenishing the structural unit carrying out the functions provided for by the law "On Confiscation of Property of Illegal Origin". In particular, Siro Amirkhanyan was appointed to the position of head of the department for the collection of illegal property of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, Tigran Yenokyan was appointed to the position of deputy head of the department, Ani Sargsyan and Gevorg Kocharyan were appointed to the position of senior prosecutors, and Tigran Davtyan was appointed to the position of prosecutor of the department. Earlier, by order of the Prosecutor General of Armenia dated September 1, Srbuhi Galyan was appointed to the post of his deputy, coordinating the scope of functions for the collection of illegal property.
Article 4-33 of the Law "On Confiscation of Property of Illegal Origin", which establishes the relevant basic legal processes and functions, comes into force from the day of appointment of at least three prosecutors of the first composition of the responsible subdivision of the RA General Prosecutor's Office. Considering that five prosecutors of the responsible administration have already been appointed, the unit is considered to be created, and the above-mentioned law, in fact, fully comes into force.
