As IRNA reports, during the inspection he was informed about the latest situation on the Iranian border along the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Brigadier General said sustainable security is the red line for Iran.
"Iran will never tolerate any security breach that threatens the peace of its citizens in the border areas. Strengthening the country's security and defense capabilities and maintaining a military presence in the border areas is a priority for Iran," the general said.
In turn, the commander of the Iranian ground forces, Brigadier General Kiumars Heydari said that the Iranian Armed Forces will do everything possible to maintain security and peace in the border areas and will not tolerate violations of international law.
Referring to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Heidari noted that Iran calls on both sides to solve their problems through a political settlement. "Preservation of the geopolitics of the region is our red line, and no force can change the geography of the region, and we will not tolerate this," he said, Mehr reports. The general said that the ground forces are deployed in the border areas, and they will make every effort to maintain security and peace in the region. According to him, the country's northwestern borders are not in danger, and the armed forces are ready to protect the Iranian people.
Stressing the need to respect the territorial integrity of the countries of the region, Heidari said: "Iran has a lot in common with neighboring countries - Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we advise both countries to respect international law, protect international borders and solve their problems through a political settlement."
