ArmInfo.While Robert Kocharyan is building hopes for the consolidation of opponents of the current government around himself, his main opponent, Gagik Tsarukyan, is  slowly but surely retreating. The Chairman of the Public Council of  Armenia, analyst Stepan Safaryan expressed a similar opinion to  ArmInfo.

"After his scandalous demand for a complete, final and irrevocable  change of government and all subsequent events, Tsarukyan, starting  with his statement that his demands" were only caused by concern  about the fate of the country, "as we can see, generally receded from  public view. I have repeatedly stated and continue to assert that a  person with a biography of Tsarukyan is incapable of making  independent movements in the political field a priori, "he stressed.

For this, according to Safaryan he would instantly been turned into a  sort of Armenian Khodorkovsky not only in pre-revolutionary, but also  post-revolutionary Armenia. First of all, due to the fact that after  the revolution, no one gave Tsarukyan an indulgence. After the  revolution, only the risks that threaten him have changed. As an  example, the analyst cited the applause that followed the criminal  prosecution of Tsarukyan. In his opinion, this fact testifies that  the former oligarch was not granted indulgence not only by the  authorities, but also by society.

And today, offering himself as a factor capable of lowering social  tensions in society, Tsarukyan, according to Safaryan's estimates,  openly declares to Nikol Pashinyan that he has renounced his  premiership claims.  At the same time, he makes a request for a role  in the new Armenian society. The role that he played so successfully  during the years of the Republican Party.

"Namely, the role of a social buffer. A factor that mitigates social  tension. First of all, in endless pre- election periods. When the  good guy Tsarukyan was doing charity work right and left,  simultaneously doing PR for himself and enlisting the support of  future voters. And today he offers Pashinyan exactly this model of  coexistence. The model adopted by the Republicans. But I seriously  doubt that Pashinyan will agree to this proposal, "the Head of the  Pubic Council concluded.
