ArmInfo. Former RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan urged not to politicize his application in the case of Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.
To recall, on May 8, the lawyers of the former head of state submitted a petition for the release of Kocharyan on personal guarantee, and the guarantors were former prime ministers of Armenia Vazgen Manukyan, Khosrov Harutyunyan, Karen Karapetyan and former prime minister of Artsakh Anushavan Danielyan. The decision will be announced on May 13 at 5:50 pm.
On May 11, in an interview with reporters, Karapetyan noted that he, as many others, was interested in maximizing answers to the questions that had arisen in society in the case of March 1. <I respect and appreciate the contribution of Robert Kocharyan to the independence and establishment of Armenia and Artsakh. The trial with his participation lasts about two years, and it is likely that it can last quite a long time>, he said, explaining the reasons for the application.
At the same time, Karapetyan did not dare to notice that he considers this trial to be quite tense and politicized. Meanwhile, according to him, everyone has the right to express his or her point of view. "We are not talking about recognizing the guilty as not guilty," he emphasized.
Robert Kocharyan is being accused in the March 1, 2008 case. The charges were brought under Article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code (Overthrow of the Constitutional System). On May 8, the lawyers of the former head of state submitted applications for the release of Kocharyan on personal guarantee, release on bail, as well as a change in the preventive measure.
