ArmInfo. The purpose of my visit to Yerevan was to open a Slovaks diplomatic mission in Armenia. Slovakia's Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak stated this at a joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on February 24.
At the same time, he expressed his conviction that the opening of the Embassy will allow to realize the existing untapped potential in bilateral relations.
Lajcak informed that during the meeting, among other issues, Armenia-EU relations, cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, the summit of which will be held in June of this year, were discussed. "The opening of the Embassy in Armenia is an important event for us, in the end, we do not open diplomatic missions abroad every day," the Slovak diplomat summed up.
In turn, Mnatsakanyan stated that it was already a good tradition to start the year with a meeting with Lajcak. "The opening of the Embassy of Slovakia in Armenia will allow us to raise our relations to a qualitatively new level. During today's meeting, we discussed a wide range of issues of our substantive agenda of cooperation," the Armenian Foreign Minister said.
Pointing to close inter-parliamentary cooperation and decentralized cooperation, Mnatsakanyan informed that there is a mutual interest in realizing the untapped potential within the OSCE, as well as strengthening cooperation at other international venues.
Taking the opportunity, the Armenian minister expressed gratitude to the Slovak side for ratification of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, as well as for an effective chairmanship in the OSCE.
"We also touched upon regional and global issues. We discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I informed my Slovak counterpart about the latest processes to resolve the conflict," Mnatsakanyan concluded.
