ArmInfo. Prosperous Armenia faction is against the introduction of a point system of fines for drivers. The head of the faction, the famous Armenian businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, stated this on February 11 in an interview with reporters.
According to him, before moving to a point system, you should initially have to thoroughly prepare for the changes. In particular, it was necessary to expand the carriageways, establish stops and places for parking cars. "In other words, it is necessary to create the right conditions for safe driving," Tsarukyan emphasized. The deputy noted that the person who passed this law should be put behind the wheel of a taxi and see if he can earn at least 5 thousand drams per day under this system. "It seems to me that for drivers of minibuses one type of point system should be introduced, and for car owners another. Moreover, it seems to me that there should be not 9, but all 100 points," the PAP head concluded.
It should be noted that starting from January 1, 2020, the law "On Road Traffic Safety" with related normative acts came into force in Armenia. According to the new system, the driver will receive 9 points annually. One point will be deducted from it for small violations. For drunk driving and speeding more than 50 km / h 4 points will be deducted immediately. A driver who exhausts all 9 points in a year will be suspended for 6 months. After restoring the driver's license, the motorist will again receive 9 points. If this limit is also exhausted, then his rights will be suspended for a period of one year. Recovery will be possible only after passing the exam.
