This was stated by the Australian parliamentarians during the meeting with deputies of the My Step faction from the My Step faction Anush Begloyan, Sos Avetisyan, Sargis Khandanyan and the Enlightened Armenia faction of the RA National Assembly, Gevorg Gorgisyan, Harutyun Babayan and Armen Yeghiazaryan.
As the NA Press Office reports, representatives of the Australian Parliament - Trent Tinerman, Tin Wilson, John Alexander and Hugh McCormack emphasized that the Australia-Armenia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group operates in the House of Representatives of the Australian Parliament. They reported that, thanks to the activities of the local Armenian community, the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales adopted a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide and declaring April 24 as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide.
At the request of the guests, Anush Begloyan, a member of the National Assembly of the RA "My Step" faction, presented the work carried out in Armenia after the velvet revolution. The deputy mentioned the reforms of the judicial system, the Constitutional Court, the main directions of economic development, as well as the fight against corruption, the creation of an anti-corruption body.
The guests presented the work of the Australian Anti-Corruption Authority, noting how they managed to overcome corruption in their country. They expressed their willingness to share their experiences. Anush Begloyan noted that the fight against corruption in Armenia requires not only legislative, but also a change in mentality and psychology. From this point of view, she pointed out the importance of intensifying work in the education system.
Deputy Sos Avetisyan noted that cooperation with Australia to deepen inter-parliamentary relations in the economic, scientific and technical fields should be expanded. In this context, he attaches great importance to the opening of the Armenian Embassy in this country.
Gevorg Gorgisyan, Secretary of the Enlightened Armenia National Assembly faction, presented the political situation in Armenia. The deputy considered it necessary to develop good neighborly relations with Australia, taking into account the presence of a large Armenian diaspora in this country.
