ArmInfo. A year later, we continue to insist that the criminal case against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, is nothing more than a vendetta. The head of the office of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharian, Viktor Soghomonyan, stated this on July 29 at a press conference in Yerevan.
"It's already a year that political persecution by the current authorities and personally Nikol Pashinyan is being carried out in relation to Kocharyan. But one thing is sure, this business is falling apart little by little, which was obvious from the start. So, as a vendetta does not fit into the legal field, and has nothing to do with the case of March 1, 2008, "Soghomonyan stressed.
According to him, this case is politicized and sent by the authorities, as evidenced by the well-known record of the wiretapping of the heads of the CAS and the National Security Service, and serious pressure on the judges who released Kocharyan from arrest until their criminal prosecution. At the same time, according to Soghomonyan, the current authorities of Armenia are not limited to pressure on Armenian judges, they are already thinking about how to influence the ECHR.
The head of the office of the second president of the Republic of Armenia also indicated that. Despite the "false statements of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan" about the full disclosure of the case of the events of March 1, nothing new has been added to it this year. "The Special Investigation Service does not have any evidence about the guilt of this or that person. The investigating authorities did not reveal anything that was not said or known before, no matter how the authorities tried to redraw the modern history of our country. accusation. Kocharyan very quickly turned from a witness into a suspect, and without hard evidence. The testimony of the person on whose basis Kocharian was charged was refuted by 14 other witnesses. However, the investigation he is ignored by this fact, moreover, the judges turn a blind eye to the lack of specifics on the incriminated charge both in terms of overthrowing the constitutional system and in terms of the involvement of the army in the processes. And what's the most flagrant, Kocharyan is judged by an article that was not his presidency. The fact of involvement of the Armed Forces in the events of March 1 is also not proven, "said Soghomonyan, pointing out that Kocharyan's lawyers' team had already recorded violations in the conduct of the criminal case in at least 29 points.
At the same time, Soghomonyan drew attention to the fact that, over the past year, nothing was made except for unsubstantiated statements, and the constant statements about the presence of shocking facts of Kocharyan's criminal acts are nothing more than groundless information manipulation. The representative of the office of the second president pointed to the fact of open pressure on the judges Azaryan and Grigoryan, who made decisions to change the preventive measure of the second president. "Moreover, for the first time in history, the defense was not given the right to vote. I don't remember such a case when the accused who was in court did not get the right to vote. This is unprecedented. And today's heroes are judges like Danielie and others like him, and we are witnesses "justice of the bell," said Soghomonyan, once again stressing that the case is doomed to failure, since there is not a single proof of Kocharyan's guilt, and the prosecution is already suffering a crushing defeat.
According to him, this business will last as long as the current authorities are at the helm. In this context, Soghomonyan drew parallels between the case against the second president of the Republic of Armenia and the Dro case (1994-95 against Dashnaktsakans, which collapsed after the resignation of the first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosian - Ed.).
"The justice system simply bends under the pressure of this order. Time will tell how many kopecks this case was based on lies," Soghomonyan said, adding that the SSS indictment contains terminology and word of speech from the speech of the current Prime Minister's associate Nikol Pashinyan Ter-Petrosyan at the rally in May 2008. He also pointed out the detrimental effect of this case on the reputation of Armenia as a whole. According to him, he can't pass unlawfully persecution against the president of the country, who headed Nagorno- Karabakh during the war and defeated her, who led the RA, fixing the economic leap. This is evidenced by the wording of the Venice Commission, and the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia; this will also be reflected in the ECHR's verdict on the case of March 1, 2008.
