ArmInfo.On July 2-4, the delegation of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia on Foreign Relations headed by Ruben Rubinyan in Warsaw took part in a joint meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee and the EU Senate of Poland. During the joint session, Armenian and Polish deputies spoke with reports on relations between Armenia and the EU, issues of regional security, cooperation and stability in the South Caucasus, as well as Armenian-Polish bilateral relations.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations addressed the Armenian-Polish bilateral relations, stressing the role of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, the parties expressed confidence that cooperation between the two relevant commissions, the exchange of experience in the legislative sphere, as well as the holding of joint discussions on issues of common interest will help strengthen bilateral ties between the parliaments of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Poland. It was noted that the organization of joint hearings, active interaction at international platforms will also contribute to the implementation of the above objectives.
Touching upon the EU-EU cooperation agenda, the commission chairman expressed satisfaction with Poland's ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and expressed hope that the national parliaments of other EU countries also ratify the document as soon as possible. Referring to the Karabakh problem, Rubinyan stressed the imperative of exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict, in accordance with the principles of international law.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a joint statement, outlining to hold the next meeting of the Commission in Yerevan in 2020. -
