ArmInfo. Head of the Prosperous Armenia Party, MP Gagik Tsarukyan does not agree with the demand of the "Citizen's Decision" party and does not intend to vacate a seat, regarding this political attack as a manifestation of envy.
In an interview with journalists, he noted that he sees no reason to vacate a seat, since he transferred all his enterprises to trust management. "I believe that the campaign launched against me is a banal manifestation of envy. And all this primarily harms the state, as investors are afraid to establish a business in our country," said the MP. Tsarukyan noted that in Armenia there is no need to protect business, but nevertheless, we need connections and acquaintances.
Tsarukyan noted that he does not believe that the authorities of the country act against him and do not exert political pressure on him. "It's just that some unknown people for the sake of their popularity are taking similar steps against me. I do not want to think that this is political persecution," he stressed.
In turn, head of the "My Step" parliamentary faction Lilit Makunts noted that the faction had discussions on the issue of depriving Tsarukyan of the deputy's seat, but it was decided to wait until the law enforcement agencies give their opinion on this issue.
To note, last week the " Citizen"s Decision" party sent a statement to the Prosecutor General of Armenia Arutur Davtyan and NA President Ararat Mirzoyan, in which they are asked to initiate criminal proceedings against the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, who, being a MP, is engaged in entrepreneurial activities, which is against the law. Party representatives ask for clarification of the case, and if these suspicions are confirmed, deprive Tsarukyan of his deputy's seat and investigate the case in detail.
