ArmInfo. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is interested in achieving success in such an ambitious goal as improving relations between Armenia and the European Union.
The head of the South Caucasus regional office of the Foundation Thomas Shrappel said this on March 26 in Yerevan at the conference "Armenia on the way to Europe", dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the activities of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Armenia. He stated that over the past year and a half, relations between Yerevan and Brussels have become more institutional. "For us, the topic of Armenia is very interesting, since the republic was in a very interesting position: despite integration into the Eurasian Economic Union, Yerevan does not refuse from intentions to develop and deepen cooperation with the European Union.
And these two desires do not contradict each other, that is, today Armenia successfully implements the policy of "and: and", said Shrapel. At the same time, he expressed the conviction that in recent years Armenia has been implementing not only pragmatic, but also thoughtful foreign policy. Shrapel also believes that the foreign policy of Armenia will continue in the same direction after the changes made.At the same time, the head of the foundation stated that Armenia, like a number of other post-Soviet countries, is often seen in the post-Soviet prism, while Armenians are a people who first adopted Christianity, and from which they learned a lot in Europe.Shrapel also expressed regret that very often the information about Armenia is conveyed by journalists from Moscow, which is often divorced from reality. According to him, very often the Konrad Adenauer Foundation fills the information gap that arises.
