ArmInfo. General Prosecutor of Armenia Artur Davtyan received Yuliya Lovochkina and Andrej Sircelj, PACE co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of obligations and commitments by Armenia. As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports, the Co-Rapporteurs highly appreciated the readiness of the Armenian leadership for a sincere dialogue, which contributes to obtaining an objective impression of the fulfillment of the taken commitments.
The Prosecutor General reported unprecedented results in the fight against corruption over the past year and the process of identifying and restoring damage to the state. In this process, he appreciated the role of the public.
Davtyan put emphasis on the prevention of corruption with the parallel implementation of institutional anti- corruption measures. Answering the question of the co-rapporteurs on the legality of donations to the state by individuals who have the status of defendants in criminal cases, Artur Davtyan noted that the legal basis of this process is very clear.
"A person has an exclusive right to dispose of his property, however, this in no way affects the criminal prosecution against them," Davtyan assured, stressing that, regardless of donations, criminal proceedings against these persons continue.
At the same time, he noted that the compensation of damage to the state by these persons creates favorable consequences for them.
