ArmInfo. The representative of Armenia responded to the statements of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council.
Thus, the representative of Armenia in his speech noted that the motive for the statement of the Turkish Minister is an inferiority complex, combined with a bold desire to represent his country as a regional force. "Turkey is far from democracy and is the last country in the world that has the right to talk about human rights, as thousands of journalists, human rights defenders and activists, scientists and oppositionists are now in prison or exiled," said the RA representative.
Referring to the speech of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, it was stressed that if Azerbaijan were sincere in its efforts to establish truth and justice in the region, instead of falsifying their own history and presenting the so-called Khojalu events as "genocide", would have touched upon the Sumgait pogroms, which were the beginning of the massacre of Armenians and ethnic cleansing in Baku, Kirovabad, Nagorno-Karabakh. "Artificially instilling victim ideology to its own people is not the best way to prepare societies for peace. Instead of conducting traditional anti-Armenian propaganda, Azerbaijan should spare no effort to respect universal rights, including the right of peoples to self-determination, which it actively fights since the moment of its foundation. Both Turkey and Azerbaijan, before speaking about human rights from the rostrum, should make minimal efforts to improve the human rights situation ", the representative of Armenia said.
