ArmInfo. The National Security Service of Armenia (NSS) confirmed the information about the accusation against the eldest son of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, arrested in the March 1 case, Sedrak Kocharyan.
According to the NSS, the Investigation Department of the National Security Service has revealed cases of large-scale tax evasion and the legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained incomes. As noted, the 2nd President Robert Kocharian has a direct connection to the organization of these criminal acts.
According to the source, in the framework of the criminal case, based on verified factual data, Sedrak Kocharyan organized and managed the process of tax evasion on the income tax line on a large scale during the activities of one of his LLC. Later, pursuing the goal of "cover up the traces," the income was legalized through a series of banking transactions, directing them to acquire property. In particular, in order to receive funds in the amount of $ 5,300,000 free of charge (an origin of which still requires legal evaluation) invested in a third-party business, Sedrak Kocharyan initiated fake transactions to issue this amount in the name of his company and receive them in the future . Having a desire to evade payment of taxes generated as a result of this transaction, Kocharyan instructed the director of the aforementioned LLC to conclude 2 fake gratuitous loan agreements to issue them, as a result of which this amount was transferred to Sedrak Kocharyan's current account as a refund of the loan.
In addition, the same director, in violation of the requirements of the law, as a tax agent, being obliged to pay income tax to the state budget from the amount transferred to Kocharyan's son, in order to reduce the tax base, on behalf of the latter, introduced obviously false data into the company's tax reporting. As a result, the state treasury received less taxes in the amount of 916.706.560 Armenian drams (and, taking into account fines and penalties, 1.968.627.338 drams).
After that, having the goal of distorting the real nature and source of the above proceeds from crime, Sedrak Kocharyan consolidated the amount with the one in his bank account in the amount of $ 6,682,960 and legalized the money through a number of banking transactions and the acquisition of the Best Western Congress " hotel.
By comparing the evidence obtained in the case, Sedrak Kocharyan was charged on the grounds of part 2, articles 38-205 and paragraph 1, part 3, articles 190 of the RA RA (failure to pay taxes on a large scale and legalize income in particular large amount obtained by criminal means). The Director of the LLC founded by him, Alexan Samsonovich Vorskanyan, was charged on the grounds of part 2, article 205 of the RA Criminal Code. The latter admitted his guilt. A written undertaking not to leave the place was chosen in respect of Sedrak Kocharyan and Aleksan Vorskanyan. "Large-scale investigative actions are being taken to clarify the legality of the origin of numerous real estate facilities and other assets belonging to Sedrak Kocharyan and members of his family. The preliminary investigation of the case continues," the NSS reported. Sedrak Kocharyan himself gave an interview yesterday to the unofficial website of the second president, 2rd.am, in which he said: "The National Security Service charged me with a fabricated case, some kind of money laundering". Sedrak Kocharyan did not provide other details. Sedrak Kocharyan considers that initiation of a criminal case against him is an attack of the authorities on his family. In an interview, he, in particular, noted: "To resort to publicity in the face of a brutal and absolutely immoral attack on our family, which has been lasting for 10 months, is inevitable, especially in the conditions of an extremely high dose of lies and slander against us". According to Sedrak Kocharyan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has long aimed at the Kocharyan family, since its journalistic activities. "And with special force - from the moment when, having provoked clashes, he fled from the Square on March 1, leaving the people who believed him to the mercy of fate," said Robert Kocharyan's son in an interview.
