ArmInfo. The fact that during the elections to local governments some candidates from the "My step" bloc lost, indicates that the ruling force is not trying to put pressure on the residents of certain communities; we want them to choose their own candidate. On February 18, during a briefing in parliament, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Lena Nazaryan stated.
According to her, the democratic elections once again prove that a revolution really took place in Armenia. "Previously, this almost never happened. And now, as you can see, the residents themselves choose those whom they want to see at the head of their community. No one is trying to exert pressure on them. They decide everything themselves," the Vice Speaker emphasized.
She also stressed that all bloc candidates could win, however, the authorities did not want to monopolize the political field. "I want to remind once again that we did not nominate our candidates, 7 people came forward on their own initiative," Nazaryan stressed.
To note, in some communities, the current heads of administrations won, mostly at the time nominated by the former ruling Republican Party. In the elections in the Urtsadzor village, former head of the village Rafik Andreasyan was defeated, who was dismissed from his post against his own will and the will of the villagers. In this connection, the villagers held a protest, however, Gevorg Avetisyan, a candidate from the My Step bloc, was appointed to replace Andreasyan, but he lost the election. Candidates from the Civil Contact also lost in the Akunk village and the Vardenis city.
