ArmInfo. The Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia increases state spending for obstetric services and appeals to the population not to give money to the doctors. Head of the department Arsen Torosyan announced this during the Facebook Live.
According to the Minister, in order to ensure a decent wage of medical workers, a decision was made to raise prices for obstetric services for the state. Thus, the cost of childbirth without complications will be increased from 107 thousand drams to 140 thousand, with complications the state will allocate 165 thousand drams, deliveries through cesarean section will cost 220 thousand drams instead of the current 198 thousand.
Head of the Armenian Ministry of Healthcare recalled that the state budget of Armenia for 2019 provided an additional 700 million drams for obstetric services. This means and will cover the rise in price. "So we are trying to resolve the issue of the shadow turnover in the sphere of obstetric aid, and we give the doctor the right to apply for adequate pay for his labor, without relying on additional financial remuneration from the parturient woman," Torosyan said.
In addition, the Ministry of Healthcare calls to completely abandon the old practice of calling a doctor at home for an additional fee. Maternity centers, as the head of the Ministry of Healthcare pointed out, can provide additional services to the parturient women only in part that does not have a direct connection with the birth process, for example, by providing an additional room to their mothers. All other medical services, as indicated by the Minister, are illegal.
Thus, who will take more childbirth he will receive more. According to the calculations of the Ministry of Healthcare, the salary of such a doctor will be more than sufficient and he will not have to continue to rely on the financial remuneration of her mother. "Consequently, I urge that at the obstetric center not to pay the doctor extra, because this service is guaranteed by the state in Armenia," said Torosyan, stressing that all relations between the woman and the medical staff of the hospital should be based solely on this order. In case of violation of these regulations, Arsen Torosyan called to inform about it by the Ministry of Healthcare hotline number - 8003.
The Minister of Healthcare of Armenia informed that on July 30, 2018, by order of the Minister, a special commission was formed, which for almost 5 months monitored the quality of services provided by midwifery and obstetrics. On the basis of an objective assessment, as the Minister said, some medical centers "lost" the category assigned to them earlier. In particular, in Yerevan, due to non-compliance with the established criteria, the number of medical institutions of the 3rd category decreased from 10 to 3, the rest were assigned to the 2nd category. In the regions 6 medical centers lost the 2nd category, having received the 1st, 3 medical organizations, on the contrary, received the 2nd category, instead of the early 1st. At the same time, as the head of the Ministry of Health noted, while ensuring an adequate level of provision of medical services, medical centers can regain an early category.
