ArmInfo. The Armenian government is discussing the issue of confiscation of stolen property without a conviction. On February 13, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said from the rostrum of the parliament.
According to him, the intentions of the executive body should not be perceived in a negative aspect. Moreover, it corresponds to the position of the European Court of Human Rights. For the ECHR, as the head of government noted, the use of such a measure is normal in the fight against corruption. This process is also part of the transitional justice system. The Prime Minister stressed that there should be explanations in relation to property, and if they are not there, then new mechanisms will begin to be applied. The head of government reiterated the importance of returning all the loot from the people. And in this context, he expressed dissatisfaction with some passivity on the part of law enforcement agencies. "I am personally not satisfied with the activities of the National Security Service and the Police in this direction. Their activities should be activated," the head of government stressed.
He also stressed that part of the looted funds is directed to the needs of the country's armed forces. Moreover, it is possible that some funds are not fixed in the revenue part of the state budget, but are sent directly for the purposes of procurement for the needs of the army.
