ArmInfo. There will be no return to the former criminal- oligarchic system. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on February 12 at the National Assembly of Armenia, introducing the 5-year program of the government.
According to him, the early parliamentary elections held on December 9, 2018 were unprecedented in the history of independent Armenia, as evidenced by the assessments of international and local observation missions. The election, according to the Prime Minister, was transparent, free, democratic and competitive. "These elections were also exceptional because there was not a single case of their appeal to the Constitutional Court. Thus, today we have a parliament and a government with a high level of legitimacy," said Nikol Pashinyan. He also stressed that with the elections the political stage of the velvet revolution ends, and the events in the country have become irreversible. But this, as the head of government stressed, does not mean that the political system in the country is ideal, and there is no need for serious reforms. "The task of the government of the country will be the complete liberation of the state from the criminal- oligarchic system of governance," Nikol Pashinyan said.
According to him, during the elections, for the first time, the people elected not only the parliament, but also the head of state, who received a vote of confidence. Thereby, Nikol Pashinyan continued, the Prime Minister is the head of state not only from the "My Step" bloc, but also on behalf of all voters. "I once again express my gratitude to all voters, and assure of our desire to build a new Armenia," said the head of government.
