ArmInfo.On February 8, head the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of NA Rubrn Rubinyan, received Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Iraq to Armenia, Alia Mahmoud Salman al-Zubeidi.
According to the press service of the parliament, the chairman of the commission highly appreciated the dynamics of development of relations between the parliaments of the two countries and expressed hope that the activities of the newly elected legislative bodies of Armenia and Iraq will be aimed at imparting new quality and even greater efficiency to existing relations.
In turn, Zubeidi congratulated Rubinyan on his election to the responsible post coordinating parliamentary diplomacy and noted that mutual efficient activity would contribute to activating inter- parliamentary relations, in particular cooperation of friendship groups.
During the meeting, opportunities for the development of well-established bilateral cooperation, prospects for possible interaction in the energy, tourism and other areas were discussed.
The importance of more focused cooperation of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups existing in the parliaments of both countries was also discussed.
"The newly elected parliament of Armenia should form all friendship groups, including the Armenia-Iraq inter-parliamentary friendship group, based solely on the logic of effective activity," Rubinyan said. The head of the commission expressed hope that the parliaments of Armenia and Iraq would contribute to the speedy implementation of all the agreements reached between the two countries.
