ArmInfo. It seems to me that the majority of the inhabitants of Armenia does still not like the acting anthem. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan stated this on February 5 in an interview with journalists.
He noted that in Armenia there have always been a lot of talented composers, whose music and songs would have been suitable as a hymn much more than the "Song of an Italian Girl" (which is currently the country's anthem - Ed.). "We will always remember this music and this song, but we don't need it. Another issue is that we, unfortunately, have no consensus on the question of whose music to choose. Someone likes Aram Khachaturiyn, someone Charles Aznavour, etc. ", the Deputy Speaker said.
According to him, given the negative responses to this account, he thought out an intermediate version, which, after finalization, will be presented to the public. Simonyan agreed that there are much more important issues in Armenia than the issue of the anthem, but at the same time, he stated that this issue is also important and should have its place on the agenda.
Regarding the proposal that a cross should appear on the country's flag, the Deputy Speaker said that it was just sarcasm. He also noted that the sarcasm did not concern state symbols, as he, being a true patriot of Armenia, would not allow himself to joke with such values. "There are no more taboo topics in Armenia, all the issues that need to be discussed will be raised until they find a fair solution," Simonyan said.
