ArmInfo.On February 5, NA President Ararat Mirzoyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt (ARE) to Armenia, Bahaa El Din Bahgat Dessouki.
The head of the parliament noted that the Armenian-Egyptian relations are based on strong historical, cultural and traditional ties, expressing confidence that by joint efforts it is possible to raise them to a qualitatively new level.
Highlighting inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations, the head of the legislative body expressed the hope that the relations between the RA and the ARE on this platform will also enter a new phase.
The NA President stressed that one of the foreign policy priorities of Armenia is the development of relations with the Arab world, and the Republic of Armenia realizes the importance of further strengthening cooperation with Egypt in all sectors.
Touching upon the activities of the Armenian ARE community, the head of the parliament stressed that at different times the Armenians found refuge in Egypt and played a special role in the development and prosperity of the country.
Bahaa El Din Bahgat Dessouki conveyed to A. Mirzoyan the congratulations of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Egypt in connection with the election of the NA Speaker and the victory in the early parliamentary elections. The Ambassador, also emphasizing the historical communities and traditions of friendship between the two peoples, highlighted the development of cooperation in various fields, noting that during his tenure he would do everything possible to expand and deepen these ties.
