ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Hakob Avagyan submitted a letter of resignation. The statement, as reported by ArmInfo sources in the Ministry, was filed by Avagyan on Friday and has already been sent to the Prime Minister's office. As of Monday February 4th, the statement has not yet been signed by the Prime Minister.Hakob Avagyan was appointed Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia in July 2018.
For many years he headed the NGO "Association of Small and Medium Business" and regularly raised issues of SMEs in the government. With his participation, a turnover tax (with simplified procedures) for small and medium-sized businesses was developed, as well as a project on tax exemption for start-up technology companies (start-ups). It was reported that the Ministry of Avakians will be in charge of the problems of small and medium businesses. Recently, with his participation in the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, issues of tax changes were discussed. According to the widely spread rumors, Avakian was disappointed with the work in the Ministry, which was the reason for his resignation.
