ArmInfo. On Thursday, January 31. The members of the "Right-hand drive" initiative, gathered again in front of the building of the Armenian government.
They are concerned about the fact that the bill on the import of right-hand drive cars is not on the agenda of today's government meeting. A member of the initiative, Zohrab Igitiyan, explained that at today's meeting this draft should have been discussed and adopted, but the document was not put on the agenda. <On instructions from the RA Prime Minister, the Right-Hand Drive Initiative and other organizations have prepared a joint project to address issues related to right- hand drive. The project was posted on e-draft.am, a public discussion was held, 97% of the respondents were in favor of accepting the project, today it had to be approved at a government meeting, and then sent to the National Assembly. We came here to ask why the bill today is not on the agenda of the government meeting. The problem is very relevant>, - said a member of the initiative movement.
According to him, there are no parking spaces at the Bagratashen checkpoint. According to his calculations, about 600 cars were stuck at checkpoints due to import restrictions. These cars, as the importer noted, were damaged, there were even cases of thefts of spare parts. "All this leads to conflicts on the spot and the tension of the situation," he explained.
To recall, the Armenian government, together with the Right-Hand Drive initiative, developed a project according to which right-hand drive cars purchased before December 30, 2018 can be imported and used in Armenia until April 1, 2019.
