On January 30, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, received representatives of the Armenian offices of international organizations NDI (National Democratic Institute for International Affairs) and IRI (International Republican Institute). According to the press service of the parliament, the guests congratulated Mirzoyan on his election to the high office of the NA Speaker.
The Speaker of the Parliament thanked the international partners for facilitating the process of forming a new political culture in the preparation of early parliamentary elections in Armenia.At the meeting, NDI Director Laura Nichols and IRI's Senior Advisor on Europe and Eurasia, Chris Holzn, presented the head ofthe legislature of the Republic of Armenia, the mandates of their organizations and inquired about the needs and future plans of the legislative body of Armenia.A. Mirzoyan presented the priorities of the National Assembly in the development of institutional capacities. International partners, wishing success to the newly elected Parliament, expressed readiness for close cooperation and implementation of programs based on needs assessments.
The NDI (National Democratic Institute for International Affairs) is an organization created by the United States Government, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) to promote democracy in developing countries. Funding is provided by the federal government, various international development agencies and private foundations.
