ArmInfo. The head of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan explained why the investigative body chose a written undertaking not to leave the place in relation to the former Minister of Defense of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan.
"The body that conducted the trial believes that in the case of Seyran Ohanyan, a recognizance not to leave can ensure his proper behavior, therefore no other measure of restraint has been applied," Sasun Khachatryan said yesterday in an interview with journalists.
To recall, Seyran Ohanyan, who during the events of March 1-2 2008, served as Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia and First Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia, and in April was appointed as RA Minister of Defense, was charged as part of the case on the events of March 1, 2008. Written undertaking not to leave the place was chosen as a measure of restraint. Ohanyan does not plead guilty in connection with the case of the events of March 1, 2008 and considers the accusations in his address to be unfounded.
