The head of the delegation of the European Union in Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski, stated this on January 25 in Yerevan in the course of summing up the program.
According to him, the EU has an important goal - to provide support to Armenia in the issue of emergency management, which is aimed at increasing the capacity of the republic. "Over the past 25 years, the EU has provided Armenia with about 50 million euros to manage natural disasters, and we continue, and will continue to provide support in this direction," said Switalski.
At the same time, he noted that the framework agreement SEPA provides for a whole section on civil defense, and added that in the near future they will begin -with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia a large-scale twinning program for a total of 1 million euros.A regional program for disaster risk management and risk reduction is also planned for a total of about 6 million euros.Svitsalsky stressed that 80% of the agreement on SEPA in Armenia has already been implemented, and they are going to bring it to its logical end.
