ArmInfo.People are irritated by the fact that the courts are often arrested and then released on bail or under a subscription of representatives of the past regime who have been guilty of various crimes, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan confessed during his direct video message.
"However, everybody should understand one thing - I don't endorse the verdicts, I don't tell the courts what to do, the courts in Armenia act freely. People even block roads, demanding a revision of the verdicts of the court, and justify this by saying that we did the same thing in due time. But we did it because in the struggle with the past authorities it was possible to act only by such methods. But those who are blocking the roads now should understand that all the revelations regarding the activities of the former officials were made after our government came, it was due to the changes that occurred after the revolution, "Pashinyan said.
Referring to the case of the former MP, General Manvel Grigoryan, accused of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition and misappropriation of property, Pashinyan stressed that he was only released on bail. "This does not mean that Grigoryan is acquitted, or he will be able to escape justice. All the perpetrators will bear responsibility", the PrimeMminister assured saying that for him the verdict of the court to release Grigoryan on bail was a surprise and unpleasant news.
Referring to rallies in Echmiadzin demanding to arrest Grigoryan, Pashinyan noted that, according to his impression, this was the work of representatives of other clans operating in the city, who, taking advantage of the current situation, want to get profit for themselves. "But we will not allow this, since the representatives of these clans do not have a vote of public confidence in organizing meetings, the people have chosen the power to ensure the rule of law, the right of people to free movement. And we will do it, and those who are now blocking the roads in Echmiadzin, let them not compare with us, we did it in due time with the consent and at the request of the people, " Pashinyan said.
He also urged the public not to associate lawyers with their clients and not to sow hatred in their attitude: "These people do their job. If in our country justice will be carried out on the basis of public demand, and not laws, the international image of the country will fall dramatically".
