ArmInfo. RA Council of the Chamber of Advocates condemns the pressure of certain sections of society on judges and lawyers. This is stated in the statement of the Chamber of Advocates received by ArmInfo.
The statement also notes that recently a certain part of the society has been reacting particularly violently to some criminal cases, thus, lawyers are also becoming the target of discontent of these people, while the latter are obliged to provide help to everyone without exception. The Council of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia considered pressure on lawyers and judges unacceptable, and concluded that a public statement by the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in this direction could also help prevent this negative phenomenon.
The Council of the Chamber of Advocates condemns any pressure on judges and lawyers regardless of the circumstances of the case, expresses support for the judges, urging them not to evade their constitutional mission, and appeals to the acting president. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with a call to make a public statement on this subject.
To note, recently after the passing of court decisions (the case on changing the preventive measure against Robert Kocharyan, the case on releasing Manvel Grigoryan on bail, the court's refusal to arrest former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan - Ed.) making. After that, the Prosecutor General's Office and the SIS try to appeal the decisions taken by the court in higher instances. In addition, there is moral pressure from the public and political circles on the judges who changed the sentences from arrest to a recognizance not to leave the place or to bail.
