ArmInfo. In 2018, the National Security Service conducted twice as many activities related to the prevention of illegal crossing of the state border. On December 20, speaking at the ceremonial meeting on the day of the security service workers and the 100th anniversary of the security agencies, the head of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan stated.
He noted that, as we all know, the enemy intelligence services are also not asleep, in this context Vanetsyan emphasized the high professionalism of the Armenian special services.
The head of the National Security Service of Armenia also touched upon the topic of corruption, in particular, Vanetsyan noted that a number of corruption schemes were revealed in the army, and about seven dozen criminal cases were initiated. "All the perpetrators are brought to justice, while the damage is about ten billion drams," he stressed. The head of the National Security Service also stressed that stealing from the army is unacceptable, and the National Security Service will be able to fight this terrible phenomenon with all available means.
Vanetsyan stressed that a number of criminal cases on illegal arms trafficking are in the proceedings of the National Security Service, in connection with which 130 people were detained and 130 people were arrested, among them there are also high-ranking officials and deputies. "In these cases, 100 weapons were seized, as well as tens of thousands of rounds," he noted.
The head of the National Security Service also said that the fight against such phenomena as extremism, terrorism and cybercrime continues. "For 11 months of 2018, the relevant units repulsed more than 3 million attacks on state sites," Vanetsyan concluded.
