ArmInfo. The mission of the CIS observers assesses the December 9 extraordinary elections to the National Assembly of Armenia open and transparent. They reported this on December 10th at a press conference.
According to international observers from the IPA CIS, the elections were held in accordance with the Constitution and the EC of Armenia. The party and blocks were provided with equal conditions. Election commissions of all levels provided conditions for the free expression of the will of voters. The mission noted the coordinated work of the CEC, which in a short time organized the event preparation and holding of elections.
On voting day, technical equipment was used eliminating repeated voting. 1500 sites are equipped with video surveillance. Representatives of the CIS mission visited 677 precinct centers in 13 districts. Technical equipment as a whole worked smoothly.
A feature of the current elections, as observers noted, was a shortened campaign period. Mission Confirms the findings of the 2017 elections, and states that the EC provides an opportunity for free and democratic elections. . At the same time, minor violations were recorded - cases of damage to posters, placement of campaign materials in inappropriate places. To study reports of violations in the Prosecutor General's Office has created a special working group. In the reports of the observers there are certain violations that could not affect the voting results. As a minus, the fact that persons with disabilities are not provided for the organization of elections is noted.
International observers from the IPA CIS, headed by the coordinator of the group, Deputy Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirlan Bakirov, in accordance with individual routes, monitored the elections of deputies to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The mission, which arrived at the invitation of the President of Armenia, included representatives of 8 CIS countries, the IPA CIS, the PA of the Belarus-Russia Union, the CIS Executive Committee, only 84 people. Observers were present at the opening of polling stations in various districts of Yerevan and were able to familiarize themselves with the features of the organization of voting, the work of technical equipment for identifying citizens, including using biometric data, as well as with a video surveillance system. CIS observers note that they give an assessment of the elections based on their own observation and analysis of factual material.
