ArmInfo. The head of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan presented the details of wiretapping of his telephone conversation with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "Part of the conversation was mounted. That is, the authors of the wiretapping cut out unprofitable fragments of the conversation," he said on December 9 in an interview with journalists.
According to him, according to accepted practice, if the head of the National Security Service reports information to the Prime Minister, he does not elaborate on where this information came from and does not disclose sources. " That is he is provided with summarized briefed information," - he said. Thus, that part of the wiretapping, where information "allegedly" is issued that "a somewhat frightened judge called Vanettsyan because he is afraid to make a decision on arrest," is very skillfully assembled and glued together in parts. "In fact, there is a very important nuance here - the Prime Minister told me that I would ensure the independence of judges so that no one dares to put pressure on the judicial system," the head of the National Security Service explained.
As Arthur Vanetsyan pointed out, he never did anything that the head of the National Security Service would be ashamed of. "My conscience is clear in front of my parents, society and everyone else. Everything that happened was already there. I think that nothing reprehensible happened. Time will put everything in its place", Vanetsyan said. The director of the NSS informed that in order to exclude various kinds of speculations, he handed over his phone for an independent examination. With the help of a special system, all his conversations, even personal correspondence with his wife, were restored.
However, he urged not to consider this tapping as a threat to national security. He assured that in the modern world of technological progress, listening to the leaders of countries has become common.
To the question of journalists why the perpetrators of the wiretapping have not yet been identified - Vanetsyan replied: "If it seems to you that I don't want to reveal, that you are mistaken. Most of all I wish it to be revealed. "
