ArmInfo.The formation of new authorities in Armenia took place in accordance with the principles of the Constitution, the rule of law and democratic governance. Speaking at the 31st plenary session of the European Committee for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe, RA Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharian stated this.
According to him, given by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, in the spring of this year, Armenian citizens took to the streets and squares in their desire to establish a dream country, a country in which the rule of law, human rights and democracy are not just words, but reality. According to the Deputy Minister, ensuring true justice, independence of the judicial system, strengthening accountability and transparency, as well as restoring public confidence in the judicial system are the top priorities of the agenda of the new government of Armenia.
The Deputy Minister also touched upon the regulations in the Judicial Code, which entered into force in April of this year, which is being developed in the strategy of judicial and legal reforms for 2019-2024 and the program of action proceeding from it.
He also raised the issue of agreements reached with the Council of Europe in the field of justice. He stressed the importance of assistance from this international structure in the implementation of reforms in Armenia.
