ArmInfo.Since May of this year, the latter has moved its positions forward on the Line of Contact of Artsakh with Azerbaijan. The candidate for the Republican Party of Armenia David Shahnazaryan stated this at a press conference.
"The Ministry of Defense recently stated that the Azerbaijani positions advanced on neutral territory, but in fact there is no neutral territory, there is an intermediate space, which has significantly decreased since May of this year. After the meeting between the heads of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Dushanbe, the positions that were pushed forward were equipped with a road that would ensure the viability of the Azerbaijani positions. That's why the meeting was held in Dushanbe",the candidate said.
Shahnazaryan noted that the statements of Defense Minister David Tonoyan that after the meeting in Dushanbe on the Line of Contact remains relatively calm, are not true, in fact, Azerbaijan is pursuing a "building" policy. He said that on September 27, works on the construction of the hills began on Artsakh's Line of Contact with Azerbaijan. "Most of these hills are ready, they are located along the perimeter of the entire Line of Contact, these hills are located at a distance of 1300-1700 meters from each other and they reach 12-15 meters in height. Such hills are very convenient for both defense and attack but considering the policy of the Armenian states, it is obvious why these hills are for Azerbaijan,", Shahnazaryan stressed. He also noted that while Aliyev is preparing for an attack from his side, Pashinyan "attacks" the authorities of Artsakh from Armenia. "I'm far from thinking that such statements of Pashinyan are the result of inexperience this policy. To accomplish its goals, some forces contributed to Pashinyan's coming to power", Shahnazaryan stressed, noting that the allegations made by Pashinyan's associate Sasun Mikayelyan that the revolution was important to the Artsakh victory which then he defended with all his might. The Prime Minister also testifies that this is part of a well-thought-out political move.
Referring to Mikayelyan's military past, Shakhnazaryan remarked: "And you ask Mikayelyan who surrendered the position in Omar to the enemy? Who gave such an order and who did Vazgen Sargsyan want to shoot for this? Let him tell the details about it," the politician said. In conclusion, he said that if the Acting Prime Minister doesn't agree with something and wants to defend his point of view, he invites him to the debate today at 6:30pm on the First Armenian Channel. "If Pashinyan thinks that something of what I said today is not true, I invite him to take part in the live debates on the first Armenian channel," Shahnazaryan concluded.
