ArmInfo. Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to postpone the CSTO summit, which was to be held on December 6. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told journalists on December 2.
According to him, during the last telephone conversation, the President of the Russian Federation suggested that the CSTO summit not be held on December 6, "because the situation suggests that the parties discuss the decisions in working order, and only then meet with ready-made solutions. "I agreed, because I believe that it is more correct to resolve this issue through working procedures," Pashinyan said.
At the same time, as stated by the Acting Head the Armenian government, the Armenian side has not changed its position on the issue of preserving the post of the organization's secretary general for Armenia. ''Since we have not reached a consensus yet, it does not make sense to hold another Astana meeting, and this is not constructive. The agreement was as follows: we will continue working discussions until we reach a consensus," Pashinyan said.
To note yesterday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Adviser Arsen Gasparyan told RBC that the leaders of the CSTO member countries would not elect the organization's secretary until 2019. ''The question of the secretary general will not be discussed. The agenda was sent to all participants of the meeting in St. Petersburg'', Gasparyan said. Moreover, he added that meetings within the CSTO are not scheduled until December 31, therefore the name of the new secretary general of the organization will not be known until the new year.
