ArmInfo. The working group of the Council of the European Union on the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia met with the Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan.
The press service of the EU told ArmInfo that the guests were presented with a wide range of issues related to human rights in Armenia. The importance of interaction with the EU was particularly emphasized, in particular, within the framework of the program on budgetary assistance for human rights. The representatives of the working group expressed the hope that soon a law on combating discrimination in line with international standards will be adopted in Armenia. They also called on the Ombudsman to make his calls for condemnation of hostility and violence against the LGBT community more heard.
An exchange of views took place on the implementation of the agreement on a comprehensive and expanded Armenia-EU partnership, reforms in the field of justice, as well as the harmonization of priorities of the human rights defender. The EU representatives assured that Brussels promotes democratic processes in Armenia.
