ArmInfo.Despite the upcoming early parliamentary elections, Armenia, as the presiding country, attaches great importance to ensuring the continuous work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. On November 27, during the opening of the 52nd PABSEC General Assembly, President of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan said in Yerevan.
He noted that Armenia is interested in the development of multilateral economic cooperation in the region. The NA President expressed confidence in that the newly elected parliament of Armenia will become actively involved in international activities, given the fact that the role of parliamentary diplomacy is increasing every year. "I want to note that the countries of the Black Sea region have always been distinguished by multiculturalism and a serious economic potential, and 25 years ago an organization was created, designed to coordinate this activity", Babloyan said.
The NA President also noted that today the Black Sea region is one of the most important interaction nodes in the field of transport and energy between the East and the West. "There is no doubt that there is a certain tension in the region, which is an obstacle to the deepening of economic cooperation between individual countries. However, I believe that economic development and consolidation of economic potential can be a good prerequisite for responding to these challenges," the parliament President said. He also noted that the member countries of the organization should not forget that all problems can be solved through an open dialogue. According to Babloyan, parliamentary diplomacy is a constant tool in resolving all kinds of conflicts.
The President of the National Assembly declared that the PABSEC is the only organization in the region that is purely economic in nature and has not become a politicized platform over the past 25 years. Babloyan once again noted that this organization is an important channel of communication between countries in the region, and the PABSEC member countries should be committed to the cause of peace development and cooperation. "We urge the PABSEC to continue actions in this direction, I want to note that this organization needs creative thinking," the speaker said.
Babloyan stressed that the main priority of Armenia is to strengthen economic cooperation. "I want to note that Armenia reaffirms its commitment to this idea and declares that in order to effectively operate the organization, it is necessary to avoid politicization of the PABSEC," the President NA said, stressing that Armenia is ready to further put forward new projects and initiatives.
