ArmInfo. "Russia's position on the issue I consider the new CSTO Secretary General to be very constructive, "said the Armenian Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on November 20 at a press conference.
According to Pashinyan, we should not forget that all issues within the CSTO should be resolved on the basis of a consensus of the parties. "In this context, if on December 6 it is not possible to find a consensus solution, Armenia will insist on its own. Henceforth, Armenia is not going to keep silent about issues relating to the interests of the RA, and in the framework of the Organization the RA government will solve all kinds of issues in an environment of mutual understanding and partnership, declared Pashinyan.
Speaking about the harsh reaction of Minsk to his statement, Pashinyan stressed that he considers Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to be his interlocutor in this conversation. The latter, as the head of the Armenian government indicated has not yet responded to his statement.
At the same time, as Pashinyan admitted, Yerevan is concerned about the Minsk supplies of defense equipment of Baku. The last agreement on new supplies of weapons was concluded on the eve of the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Minsk. As Pashinyan pointed out, the position of Armenia on this issue is extremely clear - such agreements harm partnerships within the CSTO, in general violating the principles of the Organization's activities. Including because of this, as the acting president recalled. Prime Minister, the Armenian side has repeatedly stated the need to clarify the mutual obligations of the CSTO members. "Armenia fulfills its obligations under the CSTO in full, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about our partners", Nikol Pashinyan said.
To note, after the withdrawal of the CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke in favor of early termination of the powers of Armenia as chairperson in the organization of the country and the transfer of the post of General Secretary for the rotation order of Belarus. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko subsequently discussed the situation with the ambassador of Azerbaijan, telling him the details of the closed meeting and supporting the position of Nazarbayev. In response to this, the Acting RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he would demand explanations from the Belarusian and Kazakh presidents. Minsk, through the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Anatoly Glaza, reproached Pashinyan for violating the norms of the international protocol: "The acting Prime Minister of Armenia imagines himself an international prosecutor. The norms of street democracy are not acceptable in international politics." Yerevan responded to this statement at the level of a deputy from the ruling party, Alen Simonyan, who stressed that it was not Minsk to teach Pashinyan the etiquette and rules of international politics, since Minsk itself constantly violates them.
