ArmInfo.Member of the parliamentary faction "Tsarukyan" Naira Zohrabyan met on November 16 with the head of the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek and political analyst Barbara Davis.
As the press service of the parliament reports, Zohrabyan stressed the importance OSCE / ODIHR observation mission's presence in elections in Armenia.
Urszula Gacek noted that the mission is to assess complianceOSCE commitments, international standards for democratic elections, as well as national legislation. Observers will trace candidate registration, campaigning, the work of electoral and other state bodies, the application of the Electoral Code (EC), and the procedure for receiving and resolving petitions and complaints. According to the ambassador, the mission will soon begin work in a group of 24 people, and on Election Day - a team of 300 observers at various polling stations in the republic.
Zohrabyan expressed regret that the parliament did not accept the changes in the EC. She noted the regions; polling stations where, in her opinion, certain risk development are possible. The MP expressed confidence that the upcoming elections will be exceptional in the history of independent Armenia. She noted that there are concerns about some candidates nominated by regional electoral lists, who continue to be guided by the old way of thinking, believing that they will be able to earn votes by previous methods.
