According to Jnews portal, Remo Poghosyan, who used to be an activist of the Alliance of Patriots of Georgia, and now is an activist of the United National Movement, says that the day before he fell and was injured.
Meanwhile, the chief of staff of the united opposition "Strength in Unity" Ashot Raisyan, said that their activist was beaten for political reasons.
Remo Poghosyan appeared during the incident on the day of the visit of the independent presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili to Akhalkalaki on October 2. He then told journalists that Zurabishvili has no right to be the president of Georgia. Remo Poghosyan was also one of the respondents in the PostScript program of the Rustavi-2 channel, which spoke about the clan and corruption system with the participation of MP Henzel Mkoyan.
To note this is not the first incident involving the Armenians of Georgia. October 30, a group of supporters of the ruling party "Georgian Dream", armed with bats and batons, she attacked the campaign headquarters, brutally beating up four opposition activists. They all needed medical attention.
The association noted that the brother of the deputy from the ruling party, Enzel Mkoyan, led the physical violence against the oppositionists. After the incident, the opposition took the initiative to deprive Mkoyan of immunity and deputy mandate, and to initiate a case against him. In response, the Chairman of the Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, on behalf of the ruling party expressed full support for Mkoyan and said that he is a worthy member of their team.
The Interior Ministry noted that the beating of the opposition was preceded by an incident at one of the Akhalkalaki gas stations. According to investigators, on the night of October 30, the "Strength in unity" supporters disrupted the posters of the Georgian presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili, who is supported by the ruling party and insulted a gas station employee.
On November 2, the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia brought charges against the case to five residents of the region. Three of them are relatives of Henzel Mkoyan, his son Karapet, brother Martun and nephew Edward. However, already on November 6, all the defendants were released on bail each of three thousand lari (more than $ 1,000).
