ArmInfo.Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin did not rule out holding the autumn session of the CSTO PA in 2019 in Armenia.
According to the press service of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the chairman of the State Duma said that the next meeting of the CSTO PA is scheduled to be held in the spring of 2019 in Kyrgyzstan. "And the autumn meeting, it is possible that we will hold in Armenia, in Yerevan," Volodin added. The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the CSTO PA Council, which had been held earlier, discussed the topic of interaction within the parliamentary dimension, in particular, the Council talked about "more efficent work within other parliamentary structures - first of all, the OSCE."
"Considering that the OSCE includes more than 60 organizations, it is of course crucial for us to uphold those tasks and solve the issues that have been adopted within the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly," he stressed.
Volodin added that "going to meetings of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, we must understand that the shoulder of our colleagues, parliamentarians from the CSTO PA countries, will be near."
The Chairman of the State Duma also said that the Council of the CSTO PA unanimously decided to coordinate the work of the CSTO PA countries within the framework of the OSCE PA and "jointly defend decisions that we consider necessary for implementation within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly." Volodin noted that this requires another responsibility for making decisions, promoting these decisions in other inter-parliamentary organizations.
