ArmInfo. The forthcoming amnesty should not extend to the people who committed the murder. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan told journalists today, referring to the fact that on October 31 the National Assembly of Armenia will discuss the draft law on amnesty.
According to the Acting Prime Minister, prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, who committed murder, should not have the right to amnesty. However, according to him, it is necessary to begin to apply mechanisms for parole, to change the measure of restraint, an individual approach to the issue of pardon. To the comment that the amnesty concerns the cases of the Sasna Tsrer group and Zhirayr Sefilyan, but does not address the case of the Nork armed group, the Acting Prime Minister said: "I can not say. There is a question of approaches and assessments. I believe that the amnesty should not apply to the person who committed the murder." And the amnesty is extended to the group "Sasna Tsrer", since "it is necessary for the restoration of public solidarity".
To note, 11 prisoners of the "Nubarashen" penitentiary sentenced to life imprisonment declared a hunger strike. They sent a letter to the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan with a request "to replace the life sentence by the prison term envisaged by the Criminal Code."
