ArmInfo. The Armenian government will refrain from assessing the package of bills banning the activities of all winnings and casinos proposed by a group of deputies of the National Assembly.
As the Acting Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan stressed at the October 25 meeting of the executive body,agreeing with the estimates presented in the document, the RA government, however, will refrain from giving its conclusion. Adoption of the document, as the Minister continued, will lead to the emergence of new problems and corruption risks. To note earlier Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking of the need to change the structure of the Armenian economy, pointed to the presence of three main areas at the present time - agriculture, the mining industry and gambling business.
From September 2 of this yearnew rules for casino visitors began to operate in the country. In particular, it is prohibited for anyone under the age of 21 to enter a casino. In July 2018, the Minister of Finance of Armenia Atom Janjugazyan signed an order and regulatory documents, according to which, at the entrance to a casino, employees of institutions are obliged to check a passport or other identity document of a player. Now these rules have come into force. For their non-observance, Armenian casinos will be fined for 300 thousand drams (about 42 thousand rubles). Also spelled out a procedure providing for a ban on entry to casinos for people with gambling addiction. To enforce this provision of the law, lists of citizens will be created, who are recognized by the court as lgambling addicts. In order to make such a decision, the court must have enough arguments to confirm that the gambling passion puts the family of a person in a difficult financial situation. These people will not be able to pass the test in the land gambling establishments, for their admission to the gaming tables and slot machines at the casino will be imposed a fine.
Armenian authorities are systematically tightening legislation related to gambling and online casinos. Currently, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic is considering the possibility of restricting the activities of foreign gambling sites and a partial ban on advertising casinos in the streets and in the media. At the same time, the government does not plan in the near future to revise the income tax for gambling establishments, which now is 20%.
