ArmInfo. The hero of the Karabakh war, a member of the armed group Sasna Tsrer, who captured the building of the patrol and inspection service in Yerevan in 2016 Arayik Khandoyan (the Lone Wolf) died.
According to the press service of the Sasna Tsrer party, Khandoyan died on the night of October 9-10, at age 47, from a heart attack in the city of Gyumri.
On July 17, 2016, a group of armed men infiltrated the territory of the Police regiment building of the Armenian Police and under the threat of violence held the people there. They demanded the resignation of then-president Serzh Sargsyan and the release of Zhirayr Sefilyan, the leader of the radical constituent parliament opposition organization Constituent Parliament, who was arrested, accused of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons. During the seizure of the police regiment building and subsequent events, 46 people were injured, of whom 26 were police officers. Three policemen were killed, ten at various times were held by a group, and seven of them had gunshot wounds of varying severity. Seven injured were healthcare workers. On July 31, the National Security Service of Armenia announced the surrender of weapons and the arrest of 20 members of an armed group.
Khandoyan was released by the court in mid-August 2018 under guarantee of the MPs of the Tsarukyan parliamentary faction.
